I never thought high school wrestling and what I would learn through that sport could be so integral to my life. I am grateful Jim Haskin pushed me to stick with my commitments, because it has forever changed my life.
Later that day, as I was mulling over the phrase, “it’s not my job,” I stopped dead in my tracks as a very important question came to the forefront of my mind, “Isn’t it your job to love and serve others?”
It’s time that we take the advice of Gary Vaynerchuk, Seth Godin, Nike, and so many others and just do it. If you want to eventually write a book, why don’t you try blogging two to three times a week. If you want to become a nurse practitioner, why don’t you go take a class or two at a local college to see if it sparks an interest. If you want to go serve somewhere around the world, why don’t you find that population of people in your community and start serving them now.
A couple of weekends ago I was able to take Emma to Chick-fil-A for our first official daddy daughter date night, and it was a blast. The conversation was a little lacking, but what can you really expect from a 20 month old.
Start taking the time to document what you are learning and experiencing. You have no idea the impact of what you are capturing could have one someones life.
Every day we are given a new reminder that our lives are just different, and you know what... that is ok. We are a family that has to do things just a little bit differently then others and we are becoming more and more ok with that.
I am going on record as apologizing to my wife for the next 50+ years of awkward couple selfies, school pic’s for our son, and family photo’s.
While I was looking and blaming, Lindsay was defending Sam and saying that she didn’t think he would move and lose the remote. I would respond to her by telling her how neither of us touched the remote, her parents placed it on the fireplace mantel the night before, and I saw sam touching remotes. Ergo and ipso facto he did it.
As a parent of a young child it is pretty difficult to nail down what sickness our kids have at times because they don’t do the best job verbalizing what hurts or doesn’t feel good.
